Sony PSP2 (NGP) Vs. Nintendo 3DS. Specs and More

For those following and into portable gaming, there is a another portable gaming war coming, and just like before.  They involve Sony: the makers of the Playstation Portable (PSP) system and Nintendo: the creators of the Nindento DS.  Who won that battle? My personal opinion would suggest that PSP did win the battle against Nintendo DS.  Now on to round 2.  Sony's big contender is the PSP2 codename NGP, short for Next Generation Portable versus Nintendo's 3DS.  The following diagram shows their features compared.  It is really what you consider better features what will decide the champion between these two monsters of portable gaming.

Well, these are some of the best features of the both systems and the ones that you would probably consider more important, while we still do not know when more will be added for the PSP2. 

Bulletstorm: Get ready for an awesome new first person shooter!

Bulletstorm is a new title coming February 22nd, 2011 published by Electronic Arts. It was developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games, the people who have brought us Gears of War, Painkiller and the Unreal Tournament series. The game takes place in the future where an elite military unit named Dead Echo crash lands on a planet of mutant cannibals and man-eating plants.

The only way off is to fight their way through them all! There's a great forum for Bulletstorm that has tons of info about the game including videos and tips on how to play. They also have a great Bulletstorm wiki that you can use to look up how to perform the over 140 skillshots in the game. Skillshots are the unique ways to kill your enemies in Bulletstorm. There are going to be two modes in the game aside from the single player campaign: Echo Mode and Anarchy Mode. In Echo mode, you play the game competing with other players online to try and achieve the highest score.

In Anarchy mode, you team up with other players to fight wave after wave of oncoming bad guys. Anarchy mode is focused on cooperative teamwork and is similar to the Horde mode of gameplay in Gears of War. If you're like me, you've already got your preorder and are anxiously awaiting the adventures of space pirate Grayson Hunt and the other members of Dead Echo that are coming up next month!

The PSP2 has been Revealed - NGP Release Date

The wait is officially over and the time for rumors and speculation has finally come to a very welcomed end. Sony’s new portable device has been officially announced to the public. Many assumed that the portable would be named after its predecessor, the PSP, but as of now the device has been given a code name, the NGP.

It was during the middle of the night at around 1:10 am(est) on January 27, 2011, that Kaz Hirai, the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment took to the stage in Japan to officially launch the NGP. At first Hirai spoke about the importance of portable gaming, "The world of portable gaming offers a different value in enjoying games." He then went on to talk about the great success that Sony has been having with their PSN network, which is where players can go to download games, demos, movies, and other forms of entertainment. He then revealed to the public ‘Playstation Suite,’ the first ever cross platform market. ‘Playstation Suite’ will allow users of devices that run the Android OS to access a Playstation themed store to download games onto their smart phones.

Then came the big reveal. Hirai brought out the NGP portable device and the crowd went wild. At first glance the device looks astonishingly similar to the first generation portable, the PSP, however this iteration sports a thinner, sleeker style. It is significantly more oval shaped. The design was described as Super Oval Design. This time around the handheld sports two analog sticks, as well as not one but two touch panels, the first being the beautiful 5-inch OLED screen in front. There is an additional 5-inch touch panel in the back that allows for precise in game control. Some other impressive features of the device include: a front and rear facing camera, GPS, 3G and wi-fi support, tri-axis gyroscope, tri-axis accelerometer, and a tri-axis digital compass. Though it was one of the biggest rumors that the device would also act as a phone, this is not the case.

Perhaps the most important question on everyone’s mind was whether or not the system would utilize some variation of the UMD game disc or if it would be a download only system. The NGP has entered the completely digital age, the system will be memory based and will take advantage of the PSN network where games for the system can be downloaded. Some big names were dropped when referring to the games that would be launching on the NGP, including: Little Big Planet, Little Deviants, Broken, Kill Zone, and Sony’s flagship action adventure title - Uncharted. During the presentation a few games were shown off. Uncharted was one of them, and the exciting news about the systems graphics capabilities is that it is being argued that the system either matches or almost matches the quality of the PS3. Either way, the system is “Powerful.”

The NGP is slated to release date this holiday season and Sony has promised that the price point would be “affordable.” Only time will tell if the NGP has what it takes to take on the portable gaming giant that is the Nintendo 3DS. These are exciting times for portable gaming indeed.

I just found out on GT.com. I know the video looks kinda melancholic right? seems really nice for those who have been watching, and loving the anime of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya like I have, to get exited about this game coming out for the PSP and PS3. NOVA Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance PSP Gameplay

I do think N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance is at the same level of Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, and so many other first person shooters. The only advantage here is that NOVA is for the PSP. I still have yet to get used to fighting monsters. Here they gathered up killed me, I will be more careful next time. Nice game guys :)

Legends of War Patton's Campaign PSP

Legends of War: Patton's Campaing is a great action, tactic, war game. What I really like about this game is the controls: Really extensive, you will be using the full potential of the PSP buttons and pad and joystick. I have just started playing and so here in the video is the beginning of the first mission. Great tutorial intro just to get you ready combat. Amazing game :)

Neo Geo Station Metal Slug PSP

I had trouble recording the sound for this video, and the action seems a bit slower than usual compared to the arcade. Maybe it had to do with the software I used. Metal Slug for the PSP here was recorded using Remotejoy lite. Great shooting game I highly recommend :)

Monsters Probably Stole My Princess PSP

This here is stage 2 from the game. Goal is to hit the monster 3 times before he reaches the top. So you have to hurry climbing, you get points when stepping on the platforms, but avoid landing on them twice, your combo starts over. Here on the video I almost lost. :) Fun mini for PSP :)

I Must Run - PSP minis - Gameplay Video

Nice mini game to play. Unfortunately I did not get very far. Not even past the first phase of jumping though buildings. The second is to jump from trains. Here in I must run for the PSP, you have the ability to run (of course) default, don't need to do anything, but you will need to be able to rightly time your jumps to avoid falling. also, you can double jump for long jumps in between buildings. You can also punch to get rid of the obstacles in your way, and slide, which is not necessary for the first level seen here in my video. I hope you like playing this game. Cheers :)

Mahjong Solitaire - PSP minis Gameplay

I am not good at this game! Nooo! at this rate time will run out and still have to match many of the figure pieces. ah! I really do have have a problem figuring out some of the graphics in this game. Should had been more fun if the edges were more defined. Well, I know there are lots of fans for Mahjong Solitaire. Good luck playing :)

Hive Sweeper PSP minis Game Video

If you ever played mine sweeper, then you will be very familiar with this game. I have never got interested in playing minesweeper when I first got my pc with windows games before, so it is not one of my preferred games to play, but it sure helps to kill time.

Amazing how detailed this game seems to be. The graphics are super well done. I think I have not been the biggest fans of this series, but played a few titles from before.

Arcade Air Hockey & Bowling PSP minis Gameplay Video

2 games in one. Bowling is a bit hard for me cause I am not very accurate using the joystick on the PSP. It is also the same as air hockey, but somehow I find it a bit easier to win on air hockey. Great games nonetheless :)

Fly Fu - Playing PSP minis

Ready to kick some insects butt? Really funny game, love the moves of this kung fu fly. but I don't understand the story very much. haha!

Fort Commander II: Counterattack PSP minis Video

Nice small tactics game, but more than tactics its a game of speed. If you do not hurry and place those units on the map you are not likely to succeed in conquering the enemy's territory. I think the best strategy for Fort Commander 2 is to place a bunch of workers first for funding and creating new better units for defensive purposes. This video here shows the basic mode, but there are other modes to play. Have fun :)

Neo Geo Station Fatal Fury On The PSP

I think this game introduced some well known characters from the King of Fighters (KOF) series. Terry Bogard and the other 2: Joe and Andy.  I liked Fatal Fury when it first came out. Although I think it was launched as competition to the Street Fighter II arcade game. Of course Capcom was the champion back then. Now on the PSP I can play the old Fatal Fury, but seems a bit slow here!

Maybe I am not good at this types of games. Was it me or the it cheated me, I mean those did look like straight shots to me, yet no kill. The first person walks very slow. It would have been better if he was able to run. Well, I will probably keep playing this until i get the hang of it.

There is also a survival mode which is endless and the zombies never finish appearing. You are a mercenary and shoot them with your gun, and once in a while you are able to pick up extra weapons like: granades, SMGs, Shot Gun, Rifle, Flamethowers, etc... You will need to move and shoot the zombies at the same time. Most of the time the zombies are just too overwhelming in numbers. Use a granades or bazooka to kill a bunch at the same time. Have fun! :D

Great mini PSP game here.  I like the quick stages, use your brain to figure out a way to the exit door without dieing much.  Timing is essential.  I cleared 2 stages here, but lost 2 lives.  ohhh! lol
