iPad as game system: Is this the next step from the iPhone?

The iPod Touch and iPhone, defying many disbelievers, have, as a collective platform, succeeded in transforming gaming as much as they have transformed the smartphone industry. Low prices and a massive App Store library, it can be argued, helped the iPhone and iPod Touch out more than the platform's often better-than-expected graphics. We expected Apple gaming to take off, and indeed it has--in the portable space, at least.
The new Apple iPad hopes to take gaming even further, but the hurdles are higher this time. Everyone doesn't need a tablet, which is a significant challenge to iPad adoption. Millions of iPhone/Touch game players proliferated because millions of people need portable media players or phones, and found that it was easy and cheap to game on the same device they had in their pocket already. On the other hand, at $499, a 16GB iPad will have the same storage capacity as a PSP Go, which costs $249. Though the iPad lacks a memory card slot, its screen and battery life look to be far superior.

The good news is, the iPad looks set to run all App Store games, playing them in original resolution in a smaller window or doubling the pixels to full-screen mode on its 9.7-inch IPS screen. The iPad sports a custom A4 processor that should be much more robust than the iPhone/iPod Touch processor, which opens up potential for even more impressive iPad-specific titles.
With a nearly 10-inch screen, however, it could be argued that the tablet is really trying to overtake the TV as a primary source of gaming rather than the Nintendo DS and PSP. We expected that the iPad keynote would focus more on social games such as Farmville, making gaming more an adjunct to communication than high-end graphics, but the iPad does look capable--with its Wi-Fi and optional 3G antenna--of offering more PC-like game experiences with larger screens and submenus than its smaller iPhone cousins. The sky could be the limit for iPad development once developers learn to use the device, with the exception of one category of gaming:augmented reality. The iPad has no camera.
With a larger screen, however, comes a need for a different control scheme. A virtual control pad such as theones that grace many, many iPhone games will be difficult to control on a larger-scale device in their current form, begging for a reoriented or redesigned virtual control pad. That might be a welcome development: virtual buttons could lurk on the sides instead of taking up nearly a third of iPod/iPhone screen real estate as they currently do. Gameloft's demo of its first-person shooter, NOVA, demonstrated its tap-to-aim system with ease, showing that faster games could find their way on the iPad with relative ease.
The only question is, does a 1.5-pound device present a portable game option that's no longer that portable? Would you prefer a pocket-size iPhone or iPod Touch instead, or an iPad? Or would you just use the iPad at home to play games? Would the iPad be a more interesting gaming purchase than a Netbook or a smartphone? Sound off below.

Dead Or Alive Paradise Official Trailer Exclusively For PSP

Wow x3.  I think I am in love with all these hot girls from Dead Or Alive Paradise.  I thought the official trailer would have took more time to post since the announcement I did a few days back.  It is for sure this game is going to be nice too look at, and I mean that litteraly. hehe!:D

I still wish knew more about it though.  I know it is Volleyball, but what features does it have?  Oh! another thing! Is that Rio? from blackjack? I have seen her more times in PVC figures, than in games.  She is one hot sexy dealer. hehe!

Hopefully it won't be long till the announcement of the North America version.  For know it is only a Japan release for April.  We'll see what happens :D

P3P: Persona 3 Portable Opening Theme. PSP

Beautiful cinematic entry for the game.  I would dare say that Atlus actually knows how to do great entry movies along with overall games of course.  I think this will be a PSP exclusive.  Long has been since the PSP got little to no recognition about getting good games that hardcore gamer like.  I think with this 2010 year.  Sony Playstation Portable and Go will kick mayor arse.  I will definately take a more inside search into this great looking game.  P3P: Persona 3 Portable is an RPG game.  Published and developed by Atlus.  Game availability is yet to be announced, some resources say that it will be sometime in July 2010.  We'll see how that hold up. :D

Gundam Battle Assault Survival - PSP- Bahamut GNN - Promo Video

Looks really good.  I am not sure of the actual English name.  I just translated this from Japanese title.  I guess I have always liked Gundam (Anime series). And so for the main reason for me to look for this game is because I am a big fan of the anime series.  I will look for this game when I see it.

The things I find impressive here is the anime graphics and dialog while in gameplay.  Also the fights are taken on earth and space; seems cool.  More on Gundam Battle Assault Survival when I get it.  :D

Heihachi Mishima Voice Actor Is Now Dead

It is more sad knowing it was probably suicide and not natural causes.  "Gaming bids goodbye to another gear in the big machine, sad day, indeed. Daisuke Gori, the voice of Heihachi Mishima and countless other characters in gaming and animé, passed away last Sunday. Initial investigations yield that the death could be a suicide.
According to the report, Gori was found wandering the streets of Nakano, Tokyo, with blood dripping from his arm before collapsing face down. A sharp object was found nearby, so was his will and testament, which led authorities to investigate the suicide angle.

The 57-year-old voice actor has an impressive résume under his belt, with his work spanning across multiple titles - Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy XII among them. Apart from Heihachi Mishima, he's also the voice of Mr. Satan in Dragon Ball: Budokai as well as Bass Armstrong in Dead or Alive. Gori also has numerous animé voices to his credit.

Suicide or not, rest in peace, Gouri-san."

The Eye Of Judgment (EOJ) PSP Gameplay Trailer

The Eye Of Judgment for the PSP is a card game.  Looks interesting, and I wonder if it is going to be a little bit similar to Neverland Card Battles.  I did enjoy that game much and kept wanting some more, but the story was not so big I think.

The Eye of Judgment for the PSP is published and developed by Sony Computer Entertainment.  Schedule to be out in stores by 3rd quarter 2010.  I will definitely be looking for it.

Ikki Tousen: Xross Impact PSP, Japanese Gameplay

Impressive! I do like brawlers, add that to seeing beautiful sexy girls fights I think you have an excellent game.  I was not much of Ikki Tousen anime watcher.  I did get to see some of the first episodes, but got lost somewhere the 10th episode or something...

I will definitely look for this title when it arrives in North America for the Playstation Portable.

Ikki Tousen: Xross Impact for the PSP published, and developed by Marvelous Interactive is yet to be announced for release.  Will follow up.
